A pantry of six classical herbs that quietly protect your family — from immunity and digestion to sleep and stress.
Long before modern medicine, Indian kitchens were the family pharmacy. These six Ayurvedic herbs are safe, everyday allies you can keep at home for common complaints.
1. Ashwagandha
The classical rasayana for strength and calm. Half a teaspoon of ashwagandha powder with warm milk at night eases stress, supports sleep and rebuilds vitality after illness.
2. Triphala
A blend of three fruits — amla, haritaki and bibhitaki. Taken at bedtime, it cleans the bowels, brightens skin and gently supports weight balance.
3. Turmeric (Haldi)
Anti-inflammatory, wound-healing and immunity-boosting. A pinch in warm milk (haldi doodh) is time-tested for coughs, colds and injuries.
4. Ginger (Adrak)
Ignites agni. A slice in warm water before meals stimulates digestion; steeped in tea, it soothes nausea and morning stiffness.
5. Tulsi
Sacred, aromatic and adaptogenic. Fresh leaves or dried tulsi tea protect the respiratory tract, reduce stress and support the heart.
6. Ghee
Not a herb, but the vehicle that carries every herb deeper into tissues. Pure cow-ghee lubricates joints, nourishes the brain and improves absorption.
Herbs are powerful — but personal. Always check dosage and combinations with a qualified vaidya, especially if you take medicines or are pregnant.
